Introducing Orbitforms De-Riveter

At Orbitform, we are dedicated to being the industry leader in riveting, forming, and permanent assembly equipment. Our commitment to continuous improvement drives us to explore new products that address manufacturers' evolving assembly needs. Recently, we had the opportunity to collaborate with a sporting goods manufacturer seeking support for the disassembly of their products for repair, leading to the development of our groundbreaking De-Riveter.

Innovation in Action

This particular manufacturer was already using our Impact Riveting equipment for assembly, providing us with the perfect foundation to extend our support to their disassembly requirements. As the saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention. Hence, we introduced the De-Riveter, specifically designed to facilitate the repair of their protective padding products. This process is quick and efficient, allowing for disassembly without damaging the components to allow for reuse.

De-Riveter: A Closer Look

Our De-Riveter is not just a new product but a versatile solution that can be applied across various industries. It was developed as a modification of our standard Impact Riveter, incorporating custom tooling - a driver ring and punch anvil. We removed the feeding mechanism as it is unnecessary for de-riveting while keeping our standard drop-down safety probe to ensure safety.

How it Works

The De-Riveter simplifies the disassembly process:

  1. The operator loads the part into the equipment, aligning the rivet over the lower tooling (with an optional laser crosshair for load assistance).

  2. Upon actuation, the safety probe checks for interference.

  3. If clear, the machine activates, removing one semi-tubular rivet per cycle.

  4. The operator easily removes the disassembled components from the machine.

De-Riveting for Brake Manufacturers

The applications of our De-Riveter extend far beyond sporting goods. Brake manufacturers and repair facilities already using impact riveting for assembly, particularly in brakes, calipers, and carbon fiber brake pads, can benefit immensely. Whether in heavy trucking, automotive, aerospace, or even roller coasters, the De-Riveter offers a streamlined solution for de-riveting wearable pieces from steel backing plates or calipers.

Versatility Across Industries

Any manufacturer requiring rivet removal for part repairs or component replacement within an assembly process can leverage our innovative De-Riveter. Its adaptability makes it a valuable asset in industries where precision and efficiency in disassembly are critical.
