Industry Solution Sourcebook

Endoscopy Surgical Scissors

Often taken for granted, medical instruments are some of the most critical for an operation's success.

Challenge - This unique project required replacing screws and nuts, which didn't hold consistently, with rivets on a very small and critical piece of medical surgery equipment.

Key to Success - The Orbitform team created a new Watchdawg form-to-force solution of process control to enable a consistent torque on the joint regardless of variations in the parts. more

Testimonials

"Orbitform helped us design-for-manufacturing on many products. Following process development, Orbitform's engineering designed reliable assembly equipment requiring little maintenance. Our relationship with Orbitform is always a win-win."

Medical Manufacturer

Hospital Gurney Wheels

A benefit of partnering with a full-service integrated assembly solution provider like Orbitform, is the ability to analyze and fine tune your parts prior to costly production mistakes.

Challenge - This application was a challenge because of the flexible plastic yoke assembly and the rigid stainless shaft. The wheels needed to be assembled tightly yet stay flexible enough to not bind.

Key to Success - As a result of the Orbitform Application Lab's detailed part and process analysis a unique assembly solution was developed using a modified standard bench machine. more

"We benefited from Orbitform's analysis, process recommendations, and ultimately new manufacturing equipment. Without their expertise our product would still be very costly to produce."

Operations Manager

Spinal Implant Assembly

Human-like back assemblies depend on orbital fastening.

Challenge - This unique application for a major medical implant manufacturer needed to meet stringent strength and biocompatibility criteria.

Key to Success - The Orbitform team successfully designed and built a custom orbital forming machine, with Watchdawg Process Intelligence, that exceeded the customers clean room specifications and delivery date. more

Catheter Tube Construction

Another small but integral part, vital to patient success, gets its flare from forming.

Challenge - This orbital flaring application needed to be automated to run 1600 parts per hour with precision.

Key to Success - By designing and building a fully automatic system, the Orbitform team conquered the former bottlenecks in speed and quality production for these parts. more

The Orbitform Group engineers and builds reliable assembly automation machines. We also provide prototype engineering services for the assembly of parts and specialized forming and fastening
